I’ve Got A Newsworthy Reason To Write A Press Release For My Home Daycare Business… Now What?
In my previous article “Need A Reason To Write A Press Release For Your Home Daycare Business?”, I listed 40 newsworthy ideas to get your wheels turning.
Now, here’s a basic template to get you started with formatting your press release.
1. Press Release - “Centered” just under your logo or letterhead.
2. Release Instructions - “For Immediate Release”, “For Release Before (date)” or “For Release After (date)”. Upper left hand corner.
3. Contact Information - Upper right hand corner.
4. Compelling Headline - Capitalize the first letter of each word & use bold typeface to draw attention.
5. City, State, & Date - This is normally the same size text as the main body and is often done in italic.
6. Lead Paragraph - Good clear and concise summary of who?, what?, when?, where?, why? and how?
7. Body of the release - This is the heart of your press release. You can even include quotes & testimonials when appropriate.
8. “Boilerplate” - This is the close of your press release where you share a little general background information about your home daycare business. You can also repeat your contact information here.
9. # # # - Use 3 “centered” number symbols immediately following the last paragraph to indicate the end of your press release.
That’s it, you’re all done!
No Excuses! Lol
P.S. Write in the third person as though YOU are the journalist. Think “she” & “her”, rather than “I” & “my”.
